Due to an unforseen change in the interaction between the latest version of
the Shockwave plug-in and both Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator
on the Macintosh, Shockwave content displayed in a web browser window will
not print. In order to print your tables and graphs on the Mac you need to
make a screen shot of the table or graph which will be saved in a picture
file on the computer's hard disk. You will then be able to open the picture
file(s) with SimpleText or any graphics program and print from there. This
also gives you the option of taking the files with you to later be embedded
in your text, or printed at another time or location or in color. To make
a screen shot, simply hold down the command, shift and number 4 keys ().
You will see the cursor turn into a crosshair. Use the crosshair to drag a
rectangle over just the part of the screen that you want to capture. When
you let go of the mousebutton, you will hear a click like a camera shutter,
and a file named Picture x (where x will be a number between 1 and 10) will
be saved at the root level of the hard disk. These picture files can then
be opened by double clicking on them or copied in the usual way to floppy
disk or ZIP disk for later use. Note that this method only lets you store
10 picture files at a time. After your tenth file you may keep taking screen
shots, but the system ,will start over writing your first set of files with
the new images. To avoid this, after your tenth picture, go to the hard disk
and rename the Picture files to keep them from being over written by later
files. Sorry for the inconvenience. Macromedia has been deluged with complaints
about this problem since it started to surface last week after the release
of the latest plugin.
