Eroded Surface Soils

This stratum consisted of redeposited alluvium forming the surface cover in the region of the site.

Unbedded Sand and Gravel

The deposits of unbedded sand and gravel indicate a long period of fairly fast stream desposition of alluvium in this area. The main artifact concentrations occurred at the boundary zone between the lower sand and gravel layer and the lowest clay body.

Clays

The clay layers consisted of two thick layers of red-brown clays sandwiching a mixed member of unbedded sand and gravel. The major artifact concentrations occurred on the surface of the lowest clay member.

Bedded Sand and Gravel

The bedded sand and gravel deposit is the result of intermittent stream activity that resulted in the channel that cuts down through the upper clay member and the lower unbedded sand and gravel members.
