Principles of Lithic Technology 1 - Introduction
This exercise has a number of objectives. These are:
To introduce you to the principles of fracture mechanics that govern the manufacture of stone tools.
To explain some of the specialized terminology that you may encounter when reading descriptions of stone tools.
To show you the attributes that archaeologists use to distinguish intentional modification of stone from natural or accidental modification.
To show what the principal stone tool types manufactured by early hominids were, and how they were made.
