Introduction to the Software 4 - The Netscape Software

Netscape Navigator is a browser for World Wide Web pages. There are many browsers currently available for all types of computers. By far the most popular and flexible is Netscape, and that is why we have selected it as the browser of choice for this course by installing it in the Learning Center. You can access the Anthropology 3 web pages using any browser, but be forewarned that some functions, such as tables, may not work properly on other browsers. There are versions of Netscape available for all models of computers, so it may be possible for you to access many course materials from home as well as from the Learning Center and other networked computers on campus.

Help: For basic instruction in using Netscape, click here or simply pull down on the "Help" menu to the item named "Handbook" in version 3.0 or "Help Contents" in version 4.0. The "Help" menu will also provide you with access to other useful help documents pertaining to Netscape and the web.

Links: Any text that is underlined and a different color from the main text is a hypertext link to another part of a document, another document, or a completely different web site. To access the link text simply click on the underlined text.

The Anthropology 3 Navigation Buttons: Within each Anthropology 3 web page, you also have two of clearly labeled "Prev" or "previous page" and "Next" or "next page" navigation buttons.
