Cave Art

The discovery of Stone Age cave art in the late 19th century showed that highly complex hunter-gatherer societies had lived during the height of the late Ice Age. Cave painters in Southwestern France and northern Spain depicted bison and other animals they hunted in vivid, polychrome colors.
