Courtyard-Entrance

The entrance to the temple is like the gateway of a fortress, symbolizing the temple’s protection from evil. The massive plyon entrance of the temple is decorated with scenes of the king slaying the enemies of Egypt before Amun-Re. The upward slope of the
temple symbolizes the mound of creation, which rose out of the primordial waters. One also procedes from light courtyards to dark columned halls, although here the inner chambers have been stripped of their cielings and upper walls during the temple’s conversion into a Christian monestary.
